History
Brookline College was founded as Arizona Institute of Business and Technology (AIBT), a business and technical school on October 18, 1979. The institution was accredited in 1982 by the Association of Independent Colleges and Schools (now the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and School, ACICS). In 1999, ACICS awarded AIBT Junior College status and granted approval for the institution to offer the Associate of Arts (AA) degree at its four Arizona campuses.
In 2001, AIBT was awarded Senior College status by ACICS and received approval to offer degrees at the Baccalaureate level (BA). In 2002, AIBT became International Institute of Americas (IIA) and opened a campus in New Mexico. In March 2008, the institution was renamed IIA College, and it became Brookline College in June 2009.
In July of 2009, Brookline became approved and regulated by the Texas Workforce Commission, Career Schools and Colleges, Austin, Texas and was also approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to offer degrees in Texas. In March 2010, Brookline College, LLC purchased the assets of Oklahoma Technology Institute and, following approval from the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools, changed the school’s name to Brookline College in April 2010. Also in April of 2010, Brookline College – Oklahoma City was granted accreditation by the by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education.
