Phlebotomy Technician Curriculum (27.5 Credits)

By enrolling in our Phlebotomy Technician program, you will learn how to safely draw blood from patients for various purposes, including blood transfusions, blood donations, and testing. To prepare for your Phlebotomy Technician externship, you will also receive hands-on-training within the classroom by practicing your skills on faculty, staff, and fellow students. Beyond your training in Phlebotomy procedures, you will also study multiple topics relating to safety, infection control, and medical office administration.

Upon earning your Phlebotomy Technician diploma, you will be able to :

Explain the capillaries, veins, and arteries’ function and structure and identify the veins’ names and locations suitable for venous and capillary blood collections.
Demonstrate the safe and effective use of equipment and supplies used for blood collection and specimen transport.
Demonstrate knowledge of government and industry standards related to the collection of blood.
Demonstrate effective communication skills with patients related to the collection of blood.
