Our Methodology
We pulled the cost-of-living index values for each city in our study from Expatistan.
The average cost of living index (COLI) for all the U.S. cities we compared was about 150. So, if a city like Memphis, Tennessee, had a COLI of 123, it was 24% less expensive to live there than the average city in our list.
Based on the COLI for each city, we adjusted their annual salary* to account for the difference in the cost of living. In the example above, the average salary* of $64,150 in Memphis increased to $79,491, making it one of the highest-paying cities for Occupational Therapy Assistants.
