What You’ll Learn

Throughout our Medical Laboratory Science program, you will perform and evaluate moderate to high complexity laboratory tests to help detect, diagnose, and treat a wide range of diseases. You will learn how to conduct chemical analyses of bodily fluids, such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid to determine the normal or abnormal components of those samples.

Our Phoenix Medical Lab Science program combines a mix of classroom instruction and medical technology training to provide you the most well-rounded educational experience.

Upon earning your bachelor’s degree, you will be qualified to sit for national certification exams administered by the American Society of Clinical Pathology or the American Medical Technologists. With your certification, you will be qualified for employment in various health care and laboratory settings, including hospitals, clinics, research centers, reference laboratories, and blood banks.

Through a combination of classroom instruction, simulation labs, and hands-on training, you’ll be fully equipped to take on your first position as a Medical Laboratory Technician. Furthermore, our MLS program will prepare you to take the national certification exams provided by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification or the American Medical Technologists

Our Phoenix campus is located off Exit 207 on the I-17 Freeway, just 15 minutes north of Downtown Phoenix. Commuting students can reach campus through the Phoenix Light Rail by getting off at the 19th Ave/Dunlap stop. In support of the College mission, the Medical Laboratory Science Program is dedicated to preparing highly qualified entry-level medical laboratory scientists with relevant skills and knowledge that meet the needs of the profession and are prepared for continuous education, career mobility, and full participation in the community life.

The MLS curriculum is based upon verified roles and responsibilities of entry-level practitioners providing opportunities for integration and application of learned concept, attitudes, values, and skills in real-life learning experiences within clinical and simulated laboratories.
